This Sunday, the sanctuary choir will sing an anthem called "Jesus, at Your Name" music by Mark Hayes and lyrics by John Parker. It was written as a dedication music to Dr. and Mrs. Ira Pinkston for their 10th anniversary in music ministry at First Baptist Church in Waxahachie, TX. The music tells about Jesus's birth to death, and praise His name throughout.
We have been having "Who is this Man" series in our church to explore who Jesus is. I think that this anthem tells also clearly who Jesus is.
May the Lord be with you all and open your hearts to understand more who He is throughout this week and especially in our worship services!
Here is the text. Enjoy!
Over all of heaven's bliss Jesus chose a birth like this;
Laid aside His royal crown, the Son of mercy traveled down.
No feather bed on which to lie, instead, this Christ born to die.
Refrain: Jesus, at Your name every knee will bow. Jesus, at Your name every tongue confess.
Jesus, at your Your name every' voice proclaim that You are Lord of all! O Jesus, at Your name!
Pilate set Barabbas free, but You, they hung for all to see.
A cross, a spear, a thorny crown became Your emblems of renown. Faithful to Your final breath, obedient even until death.
O Jesus, at Your name. Let this mind be now in you that though Christ owned the earth, He laid aside His very life to embrace this humble birth!
